Current research on world water resources and use shows that fundamental topics such as demographic trends, energy development and needs, water-energy nexus, climate change, and water geostrategic challenges are interconnected. On 14 January 2015, Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei, Politecnico di Milano and Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca jointly organised an international Conference on the complex relationship between water and development.
